香港電影近年為人的詬病，就是缺乏導演、缺乏演員及缺乏劇本。正當大家仍然不知道香港電影將來的前途時，劉德華當老闆的映藝娛樂(Focus Films)竟於網上公開招募。
今回公開招幕的，包括導演、劇本及演員。而大家細心一看，或會看到該公司所需。
今次招募對導演要求不高，只要擔擔任電影或短片拍攝工作便可。但大家不妨留意劇本及演員方面。
先看演員，要求的是需要懂得至少一種功夫或武術。而劇本方面，則是劇情片作核心，再配作動作元素，而該元素題材不限。
看到這裡，大家不難想到的是，該公司將打算開拍一部劇情先行的動作片。而演員招募，則是看到香港電影近年的死穴，就是缺乏動作演員。
不過，即使劇本及演員準備就緒，導演仍是重要因素。香港近年的新導演其實不少，但是成績卻十分飄忽，如黎妙雪及黃真真。部份如黃精甫則走火入魔。如果今回招募是從頭學起，雖是好事，但是多少新導演能煎熬得到，則是另一回事。否則的話，弄得一部炮灰作品的機會不低。
另一方面，提交意念，其實也涉及會否「偷橋」的問題。雖然我們相信映藝娛樂的誠意，但以往這類事件實在聽過不少，難免令部份人起了戒心。
不過無論如何，肯去以公開形式招募，也是對港片發展開拓了一步。

[Following on the successful launch of Focus First Cuts in 2005, Andy Lau’s Hong Kong-based production company Focus Films is gearing up for a new Focus Fight series and is in production on a new gangster drama, Brothers, to star Lau.
Focus Fight aims to produce a new wave of action dramas, from Chinese kung fu, Thai kick-boxing and other types of martial arts. Young directors, scriptwriters and actors in and outside Hong Kong are invited to take part in the series, as are martial arts experts who have the potential to be consultants. The application deadline is Sept 30.
“Up to four projects will be selected. We plan to start production on at least one project by this year,” says distribution manager Yvonne Law, who joined the company from Golden Harvest in March.
Like Focus First Cuts, the new series will be shot on HD. It is part of the company’s continuing efforts to provide a platform for young filmmakers.
Brothers is Focus’ first project to go into production this year. Directed by Derek Chiu, the $3m picture looks at the rivalry between two brothers through the eyes of an investigating police officer played by Lau.
The brothers are played by Michael Miu and singer-turned-actor Eason Chan who was last seen in Hooked on You. Co-stars include Wong Yat Wah and Tong Chun Yip who along with Miu and Lau were four of the top five TV actors in 1980s Hong Kong.
Shooting is underway until end of August. A release on Oct 18 is scheduled.
Meanwhile, the company has picked up the Asian rights (except China) to romantic thriller Anna & Anna which features Karena Lam in two roles. Directed by Hong Kong’s Aubrey Lam and shot in both Shanghai and Singapore, the film is scheduled for a regional release around October. ]
