周末票房整體格局下仍是三部荷里活的3D電影於票價較高下所主導，結果周日於票房爬升六成半下，周日全日收入衝破千萬大關。
票房榜首方面，仍是新開畫的《功夫熊貓2》與《哈利波特：死神的聖物2》，當中《功》片曾於周五以30萬落後，不過周末時已以不足三萬反勝，周日則反勝38萬，電影在周日維持87院映521場下，錄得逾五萬的每院平均，票房爬升比達七成八，為電影於四天間累積1,351萬，可見電影的家庭客源對周日票房的幫助。
相比之下，《哈》片周日在略為縮場下，於94院仍映455場，周日錄得逾四萬人次，而票房爬升則跟整體平均相若，為電影於11天累積至5,279萬，看來六千萬該不成問題。至於另一3D電影《變形金剛：黑月降臨》隨著各大片開畫後，周日僅於41院映90場，結果每場人次亦達80水平，不過爬升比率則只有六成左右，但仍足夠為電影於昨天衝破八千萬大關至8,041萬，但若以此走勢要達九千萬看來甚有難度。
在一眾3D電影夾攻下，葉念琛執導的港片《人約離婚後》在開畫表現不弱下，周日獲增場8%後於27院映117場，可是票房爬升比率只有一成六左右，入場人次在八千上下，為電影累積至184萬。不過若果觀乎每場平的話，《人》片的每場平均其實亦達68水平，若以周末票房而言，成績亦算不弱，當中八家戲院的票房錄得兩萬以上，不過若以現時走勢來看，要達五百萬票房看來仍要努力。
僅於百老匯電影中心上映的《靈慾色香味》周日上映五場錄得票房爬升兩成八，累積四天則達四萬七千，以一部在外地上映多時的影而言，票房已算有所交代。
其他影方面，兩部口碑不俗的電影《黑癲鵝先生》與《生命樹》於票房上繼續表現堅挺。當中霍士發行的《黑》片周日雖在其他大片增場下縮場一成六至35院映109場，不過每場平均仍達67水平，累積11天票房達1,720萬，且看能否慢慢推至二千萬水平。高先發行的《生命樹》周日於八院映廿場下，每場人次竟跟《功夫熊貓》相同，賬面也突破十萬，為電影累積18天至272萬，算是細水長流。

KUNG FU PANDA 2 wasn’t as strong as I hope, not sure if being 3D hurts its full potential. Perhaps PENGUINS playing for 2 weekends before it hurts too. It is the exhibitors and studio’s decision to let TRANSFORMERS 3 opened way ahead of KUNG FU PANDA 2, thereby preventing KF2 from getting higher attendance levels compare to its original, although it still has a great shot at reaching HK$30 million.
PENGUINS still has a shot at topping HK$20 million. It depends on whether exhibitors still believe in it, or perhaps Mr Shtmanhk, who has been a champion of the movie (is he working in Fox or something??!!), will flex his ‘power’ in the back room and make the movie have an extended run?! PIRATES 3D, another movie he championed so highly of, also got an unexpected extended run towards the end and prevent SUPER 8 from reaching HK$10 million.
Summer box office already has the ultimate winner, which is TRANSFORMERS 3. HARRY POTTER 3D will finish in 2nd place, but it will have the worst opening day multiplier out of all the big movies released since May.

內地電影市場不斷擴大，真正有票房保證的當然是荷李活大片，還有那幾位殿堂級大導演的作品，不過形勢正在不斷變化。
華語片不能再一味賣名牌及往績，受制於審批制度，市場可能再一步被荷李活大片侵佔。

PENGUINS is affordable 2D family entertainment, plus it has two weekends of being the only available family entertainment option.
KUNG FU PANDA 2, like you say, has a built-in audience, plus it has 3D price premium.
Naturally, KF2 should make a much bigger splash in Hong Kong, given how strong it did in most of its international markets.
Unfortunately, something unique happened in Hong Kong. Its release here was delayed for many many weeks, allowing PENGUINS to actually opened two weeks ahead of it and being the first true family movie after Easter and summer’s first.
You look at the past few years and you notice the first week of July must have a family movie opened in Hong Kong. Not this year, because exhibitors want TRANSFORMERS 3 to occupy all the screens!
Some say that PENGUINS is getting good word of mouth (its rotten tomatoes rating is sub 50%, so how great can it be??!!) but do parents really care about film reviews for family movies anyway? It is smart of the marketers to try to sell the movie as a Jim Carrey entertainment, but the film is rated I, so even regular movie-goers should take note of that.
In the end, PENGUINS is definitely an over-achiever, especially if you look at its international business levels as well as its grosses in Singapore and Taiwan.
KUNG FU PANDA 2 will still get a nice gross in Hong Kong, but its margin of victory over PENGUINS is going to be disappointing. Bare in mind, KF2 got released all over the world as early as last week of May and first two weeks of June. For a Chinese based premise, it is shocking that the movie opened so late in Hong Kong, almost one and a half months after its mainland debut.
Go figure!

《黑癲鵝先生》坊間口碑一致不俗,否則不會收到如此票房.如有入埸便會感受到現埸觀眾的反應是何等熱烈,閉門造車者永遠只能將開紅盤的原因單一歸納簡化.終日將外地影評票房映期奉為神聖之標準,一本通書從而分析推斷本地票房口碑只會誤判連連.

I find it surprising that you would go and patronize this PENGUINS movie, and then dare to criticize me who do not see it. You have always tried to portray yourself as a cinema-lover. Yet you never hide your enthusiasm towards certain mainstream Hollywood movies, and with your absolute favouritism towards PENGUINS even before the movie opened (Ryan needs to delete many of your messages before and I noticed that), you should better be a little bit careful when you dare to criticize others.
There is no need to see a particular movie to know how come it did its business. Box office watchers don’t need to.
Mr shtmanhk, do you dare to say that you see every movie you give box office analysis of?
I know you are here to make enemies more than making friends, but still, you never cease to amaze me with your overall mean spirit.
Many of us here was very graceful and tolerant for not making fun of your claim that there would be 3 Hollywood movies this summer in Hong Kong grossing HK$240 million.
