昨天開畫共有四部電影以不同模式發行，於票房上雖然表現不同，但整體入座而言仍算不弱，結果全日錄得約307萬的成績，以非3D電影為主的情況下，開畫成績真的不差。
開畫電影方面，霍士發行的《變種特攻：異能第一戰》在意料之內成為票房榜首，首天於74院映348場下，錄得158萬的成績，成績比起零六年的《變種特攻：兩極爭霸》的146萬略佳，但若計算票價上調因素則是相若。《變》片雖然最後一集水準不佳，不過是次被喻為是前傳類型，對看慣該系列的觀眾仍有著一定期待的因素，也為該片帶來可觀的票房。
在強勁對手下，華納發行的《醉爆伴郎團2》首天安排於39院映222場，結果錄得73萬的成績，雖然只及《變》片的一半左右，不過每場人次亦達55水平，也算是理想的表現。《醉》片首集在港上映時只於24院映137場獲28萬開畫成績，續集成績以倍數上升，跟其首集口碑不俗，令不少觀眾需於落畫後補看錄影帶，再加上首集於金球獎獲得獎項，令人對是次有所期望，也令電影在演員合不算吸引下獲得不俗成績。
在兩部大片的夾攻下，第三周上映由迪士尼發行的《加勒比海盜：魔盜狂潮》票房出現回落，昨天於47院映192場下錄得41萬，雖然在賬面上仍在三甲，但每場人次已跌至20以下水平，而電影在上映15天後錄得3,706萬成績，目前對於衝破四千萬大關仍然樂觀。
小眾發行方面，高先發行的《愛情潛水》首天安排於三院映16場作小眾發行，首天錄得票房二萬四千，以小眾電影來說，成績算是中規中矩。泛亞發行的韓國情慾片《慾愛彌彰》僅安排於嘉禾旺角戲院上映，首天上映五場獲票房約三千四百，看來上映也只是例行公事。
仍在上映影方面，寰亞發行由舒淇及劉燁主演的《不再讓你孤單》於29院映96場下，錄得13萬的成績，累積則達239萬，看來仍有望達三百萬以上。至於長映長有的《3D肉蒲團之極樂寶鑑》昨天於11院映22場仍收七萬八千，累積則達3,898萬，仍保持衝破四千萬的可能性。

Very good for both X-Men and Hangover 2. X-Men: First Class did much better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Healthy bump on the weekend and inflated Sunday should put it above HK$ 7.7777m for the 4-day weekend. Hangover 2 did good. I still think HK$ 5.055m for the 4-day weekend is possible if its weekend business is strong.
Pirates hitting 40 million through Monday is very achievable. Submarine had a fantastic opening for a limited release. A Beautiful Life will have a good hold Thursday/Friday but Saturday could see it drop 70 or even 75% from last Saturday as theaters are going to give their screens to X-Men/Hangover/Pirates. Sunday should see it rebound to about a 50-60% drop.

A decent hold for A BEAUTIFUL LIFE, and I don’t agree that the drop will be over 70% during the weekend. The movie climbed 70-80% from its opening Thursday last week, so it is clear these type of movies have strong weekend business. It would definitely pass HK$3 million, not just a maybe, and it can still reach my forecast of HK$3.5 million. There is something called counter programming. Not everybody see big Hollywood movies, and its screen cuts wasn’t as drastic as I thought.
I do not agree with Ryan that the cast of the HANGOVER 2 has no bankability. Who else are the movie-going public going to see other than these stars on a sequel to a great comedy? Are we to assume that HK movie-goers are really that dumb and not notice? Perhaps some of the industry watchers do think HK audience don’t care.
HK movie-going public foolishly ignored the first movie which is a laugh riot, and many local industry watchers criticized the distributors of releasing the movie during the summer 0f 2009. Now HANGOVER 2, if with a standard multiplier of 13, can easily gross HK$10 million or more, or close to double its original.
PIRATES 3D will definitely cross HK$40 million, even if its Thursday grosses continue to fall alarmingly, thanks to strong weekend business.
Finally, X-MEN FIRST CLASS will top out at HK$17 million, as I do not see this one having much potential for longevity, and it will probably do worse than THOR, though with higher attendance.

It’s ok, considering X-MEN WOLVERINE in 2009 ‘only’ close with around HK$15 million. Even if it only gross 10 times its opening Thursday, X-MEN FIRST CLASS will still close with HK$15.8 million, so it is going to be a decent performer, and nobody is expecting it to surpass 2006’s X-MEN LAST STAND HK$21 million anyway.

Yeah, and there is something called screen cuts.
About 40% of the theaters have cut A Beautiful Life’s screens on the weekend. Some are even not showing it at all during the weekend even though they played it on Thursday/Friday.
Like I said before, Saturday/Sunday will see more screen cuts as X-Men, Hangover and Pirates will occupy the most screens due to strong weekend business. This is why A Beautiful Life will fall hard on the weekend. It doesn’t matter how much it jumped on Saturday/Sunday from Thursday last week. Pirates had better business last weekend so they will keep that over A Beautiful Life. On Saturday, I see at least a 65% drop but I’m leaning into the 70% range. Sunday only a 50-60% drop thanks to Monday holiday. That doesn’t mean that I think it will drop 70% for the whole 4-day weekend. No, the drops on Saturday/Sunday will be much higher than Thursday/Friday.
I agree. The reason many people wanted to go see the sequel to The Hangover was because of the main actors. Their chemistry is great.
I could see X-Men getting to HK $19 million if strong WOM kicks in thanks to great reviews.

If there is a certain WOM remaining for A BEAUTIFUL LIFE, then even with screen cuts, people will look for the movie. X-MEN FIRST CLASS and HANGOVER 2 are not truly big movies for the HK market compare to PIRATES 3D. As I say, not everyone crave to see Hollywood blockbusters every weekend.
I am not sure why nobody understands the dynamics of counter-programming anymore. Yes A BEAUTIFUL LIFE is never expected to make much of a dough, and it needs a great 2nd Thursday, not just a decent 2nd Thursday as it is now.
People who like tearjerkers, give this movie a chance before it disappear in theatres.

If the WOM kicks in this weekend, do you expect the remaining screens to get filled up 100%? Even after they cut it down from 5 or 6 showtimes on Friday to only 1 or 2 on Saturday? The chances of that happening are impossible. The drop is therefore relative to how many shows it is getting this weekend as well as what screens they are on. Since A Beautiful Life is on the smallest/smaller screens, theaters expect very little from it.
What does X-Men and Hangover 2 not being as big as Pirates have to do with anything? So what if the 2 combined are not as big as Pirates or Transformers or Harry Potter? The fact is that they are performing well enough to take showtimes away from A Beautiful Life at this very moment. Since Hong Kong is market driven, theater chains will look for any reason to cut showtimes and screens from underperforming movies.
Counterprogramming only works if it has the showtimes available to potentially fulfill that void. It also needs to have extremely good reviews/WOM and/or buzz. A Beautiful Life doesn’t have the buzz of X-Men or Hangover and Pirates did better business than it did last weekend therefore theaters cut its showtimes to make room for others. That is why a drop in the 65-75% range from last Saturday is not out of the question.
Theater owners don’t keep around movies just for the sake of counterprogramming. They will cut showtimes if there’s any reason to.

醉爆伴郎團2和狂野時速5開畫票房相若,此類重男性口味電影由去年通天奇兵,轟天猛將,狂野時速5至醉爆伴郎團2,都吸引到一些偏好BT的男性觀眾也入埸,一度沉寂的重男性口味電影有反彈翻生跡象.
可惜 醉爆伴郎團2(The Hangover II) 是一部狗尾續貂及黔驢技窮之作,加上臨盆急先瘋(Due Date) 皆顯出導演 Todd Phillips 一再交行貨,不斷重覆劇情架構但乏善足陳,已可斷定此人江郎才盡,上集之成功實屬撞彩標童上身.
此片絕對不能和首集相提並論,上趟的驚喜及神采今趟蕩然無存.前作示範了具水準的自圓其說及計算精準恰到好處的橋段情節,今集一味刻意堆砌甚或近乎失控置情理於不顧.大綱小節充斥前作影子且笑位也見公式化,部份場面更重口味但亳無新花樣可言.
1.荷李活電影出現白人被高等黄種人名正義辭地奚落一番並不多見.
2.電檢處難得地如此鬆手.

郭繾澂:內地目前市場與香港是十比一，按理在內地收一億，香港是一千萬，但經常出現失衡情，內地遠比香港好。以最近兩部在內地票房不差的合拍片來計，《關雲長》收一億六千萬，香港僅八百多萬；《倩女幽魂》收一億四千多萬，香港票房不足五百萬。杜琪、韋家輝的《單身男女》好一點，內地收一億，香港有一千二百幾萬，得到平衡。
不愛目前合拍片的觀眾，也不見得太支持純港片，這從票房可以得知。觀眾的要求其實很直接，好看就是好看，管你是荷李活片、合拍片還是純港片。香港觀眾要適應的，是有些電影，曾是以他們為主的，現在已不是。或者，他們從來不介意。

People should follow their heart and interest (followed by budget allowance) when watching movies.
When watching movies become an entertainment choice and lifestyle statement, you end up seeing wrong movies, but still think you spend your money wisely.
This type of consumer sentiment is ruining movie making, but it has been persistent for a long time, which is why Hollywood is able to reign supreme.
I see all sorts of movies, but I just don’t have the money to watch 3D movies. It is a matter of budget constraints, plus we all know a lot of 3D movies are a rip-off anyway.

Interest in HK movies is waning (Mr Shtmanhk would constantly remind us of), and interest in HK made movies in mainland setting is even narrower. So when so many industry people here like to hinder fellow competitors by blackmouthing each other’s movies (look at how 《出軌的女人》and 《不再讓你孤單》been lambasted badly on this blog), you can see Chinese people have very bad DNA. It seems we like to self-destruct and kill each other off until only Hollywood reign supreme.
I was even being a target myself for being fake, but like I need to apologize for what movies I like to see here. I see a fair share of different movies (arthouse movies, ribald comedies, HK romance, drama, oscar nominated fares), and yes, I see more foreign movies than HK movies at this stage, because HK movie industry does not make enough movies that interested me, but those I am interested, I go see all of them in movie theatres (not VCD/DVD/illegal downloading), and I also wish success for other Chinese language movies that does not interest me, because a strong box office across all different HK movie genre can only be good for this industry.

但現時的情況是看3D或荷李活大片的本地觀眾很多很多(全球甚至內地也是愈來愈多),旺場的華語片不外乎大製作或宣傳強勁及綽頭十足的event movie(所以每年逾千萬的華語片本地不出十部),而中小型華語片無人問津多的是,展望將來個人實在看不見有逆轉的跡象.
