周四開畫共有八部電影，雖然其中兩部更是票價較高的3D電影，可是卻無助票房，結果昨天全日上映的30部電影合共只錄得167的成績，較上周四竟倒跌一成，也許跟其本周開畫電影欠缺吸引力有關。
開畫電影方面，以娛藝及英皇發行的《逆天潛能》成績較為理想，首天安排於廿院映104場錄得25萬的成績，每場人次亦達丟40人。《逆》片以科幻為題，加上告片段算是討好，能吸引部份科幻題材觀眾入場。相比之下，同日開畫由安樂發行的動作片《殺神少女：漢娜》首天雖然安排於29院映139場，可是首天票房卻只達14萬多，全日入場人次不足二千五百。《殺》片觀乎片名希望能跟同一發行公司的《殺神特工》相題並論，可是電影在質數或是感覺上卻未算吸引，而且片名予人不知如何的情況，亦影響入場意慾。
兩部新開畫的3D電影有著不同的票房情況，洲立發行的日本災難電影《海猿3D：終極搶救》首天安排於12院映57場作中型發行，結果以16萬多的成績位處五強之列，雖然實際入場人次只達千八人左右，但每場人次仍達32水平，表現算相對較佳。反觀霍士發行的3D動畫片《奇鸚嘉年華》雖以名人配音作賣點，可是款式與類型跟上周同屬3D的《傻密歐與茱麗葉》看來類似影響客源，故此即使於38院映207場下，首天票房仍只有19萬，每場人次僅達十人，雖然電影預期隨著家庭客源可望大幅爬升，但表現仍不能過於樂觀。
小型發行電影方面，鐳射發行以柯德莉塔圖主演的《愛美麗的謊言》雖然於八院映33場，可是首天只能錄得二萬三千的成績，每場人次只達12人，或多或少觀眾對於同一演員同類型變化不大電影不斷上映有點厭倦。內地導演烏爾善執導的《刀見笑》雖然獲霍士發行，不過畢竟電影已完成製作一段時間，結果在五院映13場下，票房只有二千五百左右，每場人次更是只有三人，全部戲院收入都只有數百，成為了本周開畫入座砲灰首位，可見電影即使有日本演員演出也不一定見好。
華語電影方面，兩部開畫電影亦處於低水平。洪金寶主演的《蔡李佛》在極速宣傳下開畫，只能於八院共映16院，苜天票房萬二，不過當中三分之一來自上映五場的元朗戲院，MCL將軍澳及嘉湖銀座兩院票房不足五百，可見觀眾對於電影排陣不佳已影響信心。至於無聲無息開畫由嘉樂發行的《宅男總動員之女神歸來》於嘉禾旺角獨家放映下，首天票房僅達千元，看來最終票房僅以萬元為目標。
在一眾新片表現不佳下，上周開畫電影亦來點位置改動，當中杜琪峰執導的《單身男女》在口碑不俗下，次周雖然場次縮減一成但入座水平不變，於40院映185場錄得39萬，累積八天達592萬，該可以八百萬作為目標。高先發行的《美女與野獸：新世紀激情篇》繼續能吸納其他電影不能抓到的年青客源，次周增場四分一至19院映102場下獲22萬的成績，累積也達368萬，相信會以五百萬為目標。上周票房冠軍《天姬戰》在電玩觀眾熱潮後後勁不繼，縮場三成餘37院映134場下，票房下跌四分之三，只收近13萬，累積也只達378萬。而3D動畫《傻密歐與茱麗葉》隨著《奇鸚嘉年華》開畫下，場次縮場六成，票房也只有五萬五千，累積票房僅過剛達302萬。值得一提的是，驕陽發行的應屆奧斯卡最佳電影《皇上無話兒》在上映第六周仍於昨天七場獲八千票房，累積票房也衝破千萬達1,002萬，算是較預期為佳。

There are a lot of interesting things this Thursday at the box office, above all is the amazing hold posted by 《單身男女》. A lot of people on another two threads tried their best to downplay its box office potential without even seeing the movie. Some went as far as saying the movie may only reach HK$3-6 million in total box office. Well, it posted a mere 10% drop thursday-thursday, indicating terrific word of mouth. Couple that with its very decent box office showing in the mainland during Ching Ming holidays, it is definitely a success story no matter how you view it. 《單身男女》 definitely has a shot at over HK$10 million, and hopefully it will manage to go north of HK$13 million.

Next interesting thing is LIMITLESS opening to a decent HK$250K. It is nothing worth bragging about, but as sci-fi fare goes it did manage to beat the opening of the more higher profile ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, and most importantly, it more than double the opening of another adult skewing drama LINCOLN LAWYER, defying unrealistic expectations of our ‘professional’ box office watcher Shtmanhk.
More shocking news is the amazing hold displayed by BEASTLY. Credit must go to its marketing team (e.g. a terrific chinese name), enabling the movie to trump the much higher profile SUCKER PUNCH.
RIO only opening to HK$190K further shows Hong Kong is not really that kind to animation offerings as the colossal success of last year’s TOY STORY 3 may have implied.
Finally, 《殺神少女：漢娜》 HANNA might have only opened to HK$140K, but if the movie is good (as indicated on Rotten Tomatoes), it may have potential, think 1994’s LEON:THE PROFESSIONAL. We’ll have to see.

根據昨天報章報導,《單身男女》在中國已收6000萬人民幣.香港現則近600萬.杜韋電影這次應很大機會過千萬.若中國大陸最終收過1億,相信投資方應滿意了.
如果從男性觀眾角度看,《單身男女》並不算一部好看的電影.但最重要是要看女性觀眾的反應和感受.以80後女性觀眾和喜歡二位男主角的女性觀眾為主的目標觀眾,從現在的票房看應是對電影滿意的.特別是吳彥祖的角色和形象十分討好,應能吸引不少女性觀眾.女主角高圓圓雖然不是香港人,但形象也討好,在迷失的愛情中也表現得到有主見的一面.

I am a male, and I enjoyed 《單身男女》 as much as the females.
Most of the people who downplay the movie’s potential must be anti-feminist, must have hated the spike of female starring HK commercial movies led by Sammi Cheng and Miriam Yeung and Gigi Leung from the late 1990s to early 2000s. That’s the only thing to explain why so many of you have so many negative things to say.
Perhaps some industry watchers must be worried that Chinese movie industry eventually will manage to lure back female audiences who in the last 6 or 7 years have been flocking to Hollywood movies, not knowing that our own movie industry is capable of making romantic movies, sometimes even better than Hollywood does, as shown by 《單身男女》.

我不太喜歡”單身男女”的原因是從電影的整體可觀性出發,劇情和劇本的整體觀感,是很個人的感受.
本人十分支持優質的香港電影,中國電影和中港合拍片,過往80和90年代一面倒熱衷西片的年代已不同了.

This is more about keeping HK movie industry alive and well and competitive against Hollywood movies. I admit 《單身男女》is not the best that Mr To can offer to solidify HK movie scene, but as commecial entertainment for its target audience of young couples and female movie-goers, it works, and it is very well made in most aspects.
I really do not understand the hidden agenda some people have here. Mr To has over the years made all kinds of movies, probably except sexual erotic movies or action movies. He certainly can do what he wants, and he does not need to solely cater to its mature male audience all the time.

《單身男女》用一個夢幻的方式拍愛情故事能吸引得到比較年輕的觀眾,年輕的觀眾相對不太抗拒大陸女星任女主角,這次票房成功的關鍵正是來自非過往港產愛情片(特別是喜歡楊千嬅和鄭秀文)的女觀眾和杜韋電影的fans.
香港電影和中港合拍片若能多開拓年輕一代的觀眾層,可望谷底回升.

I am not going to debate about hidden agenda, obviously because it stays off topic from box office discussion, but more because I am just a regular movie-goer. I have been banned from posting for an extended period last year, hence my name Ken Resurrected when I realize I can post again this year. I hope Ryan will be more forgiving this time around.
And yes, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, as long as we respect each other, but somebody last year keep chasing after my comments, prompting childish catfights, and eventually me being banned while that other person keep getting away. But ever since Ryan give a surprise warning to that person for trolling and reposting deleted comments, I knew I should come back.
I will not let this happen again. So hate me all you like.
Now back to box office discussion. 《單身男女》is going to break a lot of people’s glasses, so nobody is a real expert despite your knowledge, so people should be more graceful because nobody is always correct.

Fair enough. I can understand why a lot of movie lovers may not appreciate commercial entertainment for a niched audience. Basically you are saying a director as capable as Mr To should not be doing these type of films, would be like asking Martin Scorsese to do a cliched romantic drama.
Unfortunately, HK movie industry has a lot in stake with the success of this movie, and hopefully we will be more understanding and supportive.
I truly believe that a strong local movie industry will eventually pave the way for other quality movies, and we already have very few local movies left. I am happy for 猛男滾死隊 performing decently as a low brow comedy, even if I really have no desire to see it, I respect that there are audiences who like the genre, and for what it’s worth, it keep our industry going.
Same goes for 出軌的女人. I am just happy it got made, and I like to watch the actors do their acting, and the result is satisfying enough.
It’s too bad 《出軌的女人》did not do much better with all those fine actresses, but then again having a comeback from Vivian Chow in 《得閒炒飯》did not help rescue that movie’s box office fortunes either. Along with 《月滿軒尼詩》, most of these movies’ box office and critical remarks are forgettable, but I saw all of these female-appealing movies just the same and like them enough.
To me, 《單身男女》is performing well enough, so I have more hope than ever.

A bad movie is a bad movie, and a good movie is a good movie. There’s no excuse for a bad movie, regardless of how hard people worked on them or what it means to the industry. The audience only cares about results.
With that, I liked 單身男女, especially in comparison to Mr. Wai’s earlier romantic comedy. There is value in how it looks at the times and how skillfully it’s made. Instead of just seeing it as “just for Mainland”, I think it balances the two target markets better than many co-productions. I can also see why other people don’t like it (it is far from a perfect film). There’s no need to accuse people of being anti-feminist just because they don’t like a movie.
On the other hand, I hated 出軌的女人 because it’s a terribly made film that tries to be more than what it ended up being. I know what it’s trying to do, but it doesn’t excuse the 眼高手低 presentation. I know females who think the same.
The point is there’s no point in excusing an industry that keeps shelling out bad films. If Wong Jing keeps making lazy efforts like 猛男滾死隊, he is only committing career suicide and has no one to blame but himself.

As for box office, I am happy that Mr. To has made a crowdpleaser with a crowd to please. I was surprised how much the box office picked up over the weekend, and hope it will continue to pick up.
Not surprised about Choy Lee Fut’s poor performance at all. It had very little interest and very little confidence on the part of exhibitors. It feels like it is only made for film markets and overseas fans who still want their kung fu fix.

根據早前石琪對香港電影近年來的分析,港產片曾在80年代和90年代初成績卓越輝煌,但90年代中之後,港產片開始每況愈下,但直至近幾年,由於中國大陸的電影市場興旺起來,間接令香港電影復甦,香港電影是以另一個身份再起.
這點本人十分同意,若《單身男女》票房能在中港兩地成功,會是上述論點一個起點.
