電影於報章刊登廣告已經不是甚麼新聞，不過幾乎所有電影刊登的廣告，都是以類似海報款式宣傳電影為主，看起來十分千篇一律。不過，今天於報刊登的《新少林寺》廣告，手法與效果上都有點不同。
上圖所見，便是今天東方日報的娛樂C3版，全版標著是「新少林寺號外」，全版出現了四則新聞，當中還以劉德華剃頭為頭條。不過在新聞的底部出現了「英皇電影2011年1月蓄勢待發」，看其版本，相信沒有人會以為是真正報章自家的新聞吧。
看看版面的右上角，的確寫上了「廣告」兩字。其實這類型類似新聞形式的廣告並不罕見，每每以使用於美容、電腦或健康產品為主。至於在電影宣傳方面，則會常以另行印製模式以號外形式於戲院提供，但像《新少林寺》於報章刊登，實屬罕見。
從宣傳角度去看，這是一個特別的宣傳。不過，電影公司宣傳部門大可以發稿形式提供給傳媒，為何要像《新少林等》這樣破費去做呢？
雖然報章一般都會報導來自電影公司的發稿，不過報章的編輯絕對有權選擇性報導，結果每每出來的報導只會集中於娛樂成份，關乎電影的有時可以蕩然無存。觀乎是次英皇電影提供的材料，若果以常規模式發佈，最終可能最多獲得四分一版篇幅報導，而且更有機會是無關痛癢。電影公司或希望完整地向觀眾提供有關信息，於是把心一橫，自行賣廣告供稿。

沒記錯的話,方向/東方自零七年底因與劉華有關司的糾紛就開始不登他的新聞(當然非正面的新聞他們很樂意登),就算有照片也不會出名字,可能這也是為什麼需要買廣告的原因之一吧.
