本周雖然共三部電影開畫，不過許鞍華執導的《桃姐》要到今天才開畫，故此昨天只是兩部外語電影票房之爭，在氣氛熾熱下，結果昨天全日票房達257萬，較上周四上升接近三成。
從賬面上來看，迪士尼發行的《異星爭霸戰：尊卡特傳奇》首天安排於46院映240場，以129萬的成績，較於26院映141場錄得51萬的《鐵娘子─戴卓爾夫人傳》多出一截。然而，若果撇除票價及場次因數而看入座的話，其實兩片每場人次均在56左右。
《異》片主要的賣點，在於其金像班底打造的特技。可是觀乎宣傳方面，主角在港知名度低，而且以特技作賣點近年來香港受落程度已不及過去，加上在淡季開畫，故此開畫難望有理想表現。相比之下，《鐵》片雖然看起來有點政治味道，不過電影卻受惠於女主角梅麗史翠普於奧斯卡贏得影后，而且該人物在香港因回歸前屬英國殖民地也有認識，在合適的發行規模下表現不俗。然而，兩部外語片於今天便開始要與在外地影展獲多個獎項的《桃姐》交鋒，觀乎《桃姐》入座極為理想，看來周末難望有顯著升幅。
在新片開畫下，兩岸愛情片表現不弱，當中洲立發行鈕承澤執導的台灣電影《愛Love》於27院映78場仍獲十萬，累積15天達550萬，而安樂發行次周上映的《失戀33天》昨映92場仍獲得相若成績，累積也達170萬，相信仍可望最終達至二百萬以上。然而香港導演黃真真的《傾城之淚》昨天票房只及開畫日的三分之一，累積八天在新寶旗下四家戲院協力下也只有45萬，算是為黃真真開創票房新低。
奧斯卡得獎片的走勢則個別發展，當中大贏家《星光夢裡人》在縮場兩成映46場下，票房下跌六成至五萬八千，累積15天達267萬，也許反映了電影在港難望以中型發行。高先發行的《伊朗式分居》在維持五院映23場下，進賬四萬二千，每場人次仍達28較高水平，為電影累積64萬，要達百萬票房相信不難。獲得五個技術獎項由洲立發行的3D片《雨果的巴黎奇幻歷險》在口碑不俗下，昨天維持廿院映55場，票房只較上周四下跌三成至九萬二千，累積達420萬，但以3D片而言成績不算理想。其他上映的3D片於本周則錄近八成跌幅，當中次周開畫的《幽靈車神3D之死神復仇》映104場僅獲九萬五千，累積達322萬，而第三周上映的《妖夜尋狼：血姬覺醒》雖映34場只獲四萬，但在開畫票房較高下累積達660萬。
值得一提的是，娛藝以Cine Hub品牌上映的印度電影《巴打旅痕團》昨天於六院映19場錄得票房萬九，雖然每場人次仍在15以下，不過票房較上周四只跌一成半，目前累積達27萬。然而，周末票房將十分視乎《桃姐》開畫後各片於場次與票房的變化。

《異星爭霸戰：尊卡特傳奇》had a nice opening for this time of year, but one cannot be optimistic with its long term prospects. I am forecasting a 12 times opening day multiplier at this point, meaning it will close with HK$15.5 million, but I think it may finish even lower than that.
《鐵娘子─戴卓爾夫人傳》had a good opening. It managed to open higher than THE KING’S SPEECH, albeit with more screenings, but the long term prospects remain doubtful. This year’s Oscar movies are generally not posting a leggy run, and I am not expecting this one to have any chance to match the leggy run like the other female biopic THE LADY. Currently my target is for it to reach 13 times its opening day, or HK$6.6 million.
On to Chinese language movies, 《失戀33天》continues to trail 《愛Love》. Both movies are worth seeing for genre fans, but whose idea is it to open them directly against each other? I blame Edko for totally mishandling《失戀33天》’s release. It could have done better, instead of living in the shadows of 《愛Love》week after week. I really do not think 《失戀33天》is doing all that well given the quality of the product. Imagine if this one is headlined by a known star, its box office prospects will be much better. You will think good word of mouth will be spreading out for 《失戀33天》by this time, allowing it to get a low 2nd week Thursday decline, but it almost drop 50%. What a lost opportunity. Guess the anti-mainland sentiments are hurting it.
《愛Love》is now poised to be the 3rd largest grossing Taiwanse movie in recent history. It has already reached a 17 times opening day multiplier as of today (Friday), and it looks to finish with HK$6.6 million (20 times opening day multiplier), or even higher.
《伊朗式分居》drop 45% from last week. This wasn’t a very nice hold, but it should still reach at least HK$1.2 million by the end of its run. It really should have finished with at least over HK$2 million to prove its Oscar worth (not to mention beating out Chinese Foreign film oscar competitor SEEDIQ BALE), so we’ll see if it may pull a late momentum.
Finally, while 《星光夢裡人》is starting to lose momentum again, 《雨果的巴黎奇幻歷險》is hanging there, but not sure if 洲立 can support the movie during the crucial weekend period as competition is intense with the arrival of 《桃姐》. Still, it has already reach an opening day multiplier of 30, thanks to a spectacularly poor Thursday debut of HK$140K, so it still has a good shot at hitting HK$6 million.
